Sindee Lynn Interview

Author Bio:
My name is Sindee Lynn and I have known I wanted to be a writer since the old age of 13. Growing up my love of reading was nourished by my aunt who used to bring me bags of Harlequin Romance novels when she came to visit- back then they had the almost cartoonlike characters on them. Living in a small town where you had to have a car to get from point A to point B reading was my escape. And man did I become a world class traveler. By the time I turned 14 I had been to Italy, France, several Mediterranean Islands and to almost every state in the US and Canada. Those books are still at my childhood home today on a shelf my uncle had to build for them because he was tired of them being all over the house... lol. Today I work full time and am the single parent of a very active teenager, which means I don’t have much free time for me but the time I do have I have spent on my writing.

You can purchase my books at the following locations:

1: What is the most productive time of the day for you to write?

late at night. I am a night owl, always have been so I prefer to stay up late into the wee hours of the morning writing than to get up at the crack of dawn to begin my day. So it’s not unusual for there to be a fresh pot of coffee on at about 12:30 am.

2: Do you start your projects writing with paper and pen or is it all on the computer?

it really depends on where the idea strikes me. I have been in the car riding with my daughter and an idea just came to me and I have sat in a parking lot with scrap paper jotting it down-that was before I started keeping a small notebook in my purse. But I will admit I prefer paper and pencil/pen for the initial idea. Not really sure why because I will just have to try and decipher my own version of short hand to type it up later…lol

3: What do you draw inspiration from?

Everything. My life, my friends lives, odd things I might see when I’m walking down the street, the crazy things my friends and I talk about. Also, I’m someone who can sit and watch people. I make up different scenarios about them and sometimes I strike upon something that actually might work. Sounds crazy I know.

4: Do you set yourself goals when you sit down to write such as word count?

Absolutely not. There are days when its hard for me to even get a paragraph on the page. Then there are those days when my fingers feel as if they are going to fall off because my brain is working faster than I can type. I have never done well under pressure so to say I’m not leaving my laptop til I have 1500 words on paper is the recipe for disaster.

5: Are you a published or a self published author?

I am published. I was lucky enough to get signed with a great company, Passionate Writer Publishing Inc. It’s kind of interesting how it happened. A friend of mine actually told me about them and I had just received a rejection for Prince’s Donor from another company. The other company recommended I needed to loose some of the backstory. When I submitted to PWP I didn’t change a thing. I was like if they say the same thing then off to re-write I will go but they came back with a completely different outlook on it. I think yhey saw what I was trying to do and went with it.

6: What drives you to choose the career of being a writer?

I have wanted to be a writer since I was 13. Sure there were times when I thought about giving up on it and doing something “normal” I mean after all who aspires to be a romance novelist when they grow up right? But no matter how long I went between writing anything I would always come back to it and I just feel better when I’m writing. And being an avid reader myself I have always been envious of people who can take me on a trip to another place. I want to do that for others. I want my readers to know that when they open one of my books they are about to leave everything behind them and go on a journey. I know it might sound corny but that what drives me to keep writing.

7: Do you own an ebook reading devise?

I do not but I do have a lot of ebooks on my laptop. I have looked at the kindle on amazon but it’s just too expensive when my laptop serves the same purpose
8: Who are some of your favorite authors and What are you reading now?

I have a lot of favorite authors, I grew up on Diane Palmer and Nora Roberts so I will always be a fan. More recently I love Lynsay Sands, Christine Feehan, Nina Bangs but my absolute favorite in the paranormal genre is Sherrilyn Kenyon. She is my inspiration when I’m creating the world my vampires live in and all the things that are around them. The world she has created in her Dark Hunter Series is nothing short of amazing to me. As far as who I’m reading now, I will admit to being caught up in the Twilight Series so I have Stephanie Meyers on my nightstand right now – Eclipse. I always like to read the book right before I go see the movie. Just to compare. And so far I must admit I am impressed – hollywood has managed to stick closely to the series.
9: What do you think of book trailers and do you have any plans to have any?

Just so I’m sure I understand what that is, its like a movie trailer but for a book right? Wow I never really thought about it but I must admit it would be pretty cool. I mean imagine it, the reader is standing on the book isle – teetering back and forth between your book and someone else’s. They have to read the back of the other person’s book but for yours they can press a button and a trailer for your book comes on… too cool. Your book is brought to life right before the reader. That is way cool so it’s definitely something to think about.

10: What are you working on now that you can talk about?

I would love to tell you what I’m working on now … I am working on the 2nd in my Donor Series, Vampire Experiment. It continues the story of the donor database and introduces you to Johnna Sinclair, Syrian’s cousin, creator of the blood supplements their race uses and co-founder of the database. You get to see snippets of Syrian & Jenna from Prince’s Donor, but I mainly focus on Johnna. Being the creator of not only the donor database but also of a replacement food source you know things are hectic for her in her life. So she’s dealing with that and then another interesting change up. It also delves a little deeper into the plot against the data base and those who are against it. I introduce a few more characters and you start to really get an understanding of the world humans and vampires live in now. Im excited about it.
